WhatsApp calls are widely used, especially in areas with poor network connectivity, and the platform is now working on a new feature to make missed calls less inconvenient. Soon, if someone doesn’t pick up your WhatsApp call, you’ll be able to leave them a recorded voice message.

The feature has been spotted in the latest WhatsApp Android beta (v2.25.23.21). When a call goes unanswered, users will see a Record Voice Message button within the call bubble. The recorded message will then appear in the recipient’s chat window, much like a regular voice note. On the call interface, the new icon will show up alongside the Cancel and Call Again options.

This update is part of WhatsApp’s broader push to evolve beyond simple messaging. With AI tools, video calls, and now voice messages for missed calls, the app is shaping into a complete communication platform.

In addition, WhatsApp is testing a meeting scheduling option, similar to Google Meet and Zoom. Organizers will be able to create call links, notify participants ahead of time, and receive alerts when attendees join. As with all WhatsApp communications, these scheduled group calls will also be protected by end-to-end encryption.
