Srinagar, November 28, 2025: The Jammu and Kashmir Wildlife Department successfully captured two black bears alive in separate operations conducted in South Kashmir. The efforts were aimed at ensuring the safety of both humans and wildlife in areas where the animals had ventured into human settlements.
Wildlife officials said the first bear was captured in Anantnag district, while the second was secured in Pulwama district. Both animals were safely relocated to forested areas under expert supervision. The department emphasized that no animals or humans were harmed during the operations.
Authorities highlighted that such captures are part of ongoing wildlife management initiatives to reduce human-animal conflict and preserve the region’s rich biodiversity. The Wildlife Department urged residents to report any sightings of wild animals and to cooperate with officials to ensure safe relocations.
