Jammu: On Saturday, a large number of women visited security camps across the Jammu region to celebrate the Raksha Bandhan festival with the personnel of the Army, BSF, and CRPF. They tied vibrant rakhis on the wrists of the security forces, expressing their gratitude for the dedication shown in protecting the country’s borders.
The festival, which symbolizes the bond of protection and mutual respect, brought joy and festivity to the camps, strengthening the emotional ties between civilians and the armed forces stationed near the Line of Control and International Border, officials said.
Visitors prayed for the safety of the security personnel, who in turn appreciated the warmth and affection extended by the local communities.
A defence spokesperson shared that soldiers celebrated Raksha Bandhan with local women and schoolchildren at various locations, including Kalakote and Akhnoor near the LoC in Rajouri and Jammu districts. The celebrations involved girls and women tying rakhis on Army personnel’s wrists, with the soldiers reciprocating by giving sweets and gifts as tokens of appreciation.
The event aimed to foster emotional bonding, cultural integration, and strengthen trust and affection between the Army and local residents. The spokesperson noted that the cheerful faces, heartfelt interactions, and shared moments of celebration truly reflected the deep respect and affection between soldiers and the communities they serve. This occasion also underscored the importance of community engagement and social unity.
Troops of the BSF Jammu also celebrated Raksha Bandhan with border communities in Flora, Nagbani, and Marh areas of Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing unity and social harmony. The BSF reiterated its commitment to nurturing community relationships while fulfilling its core duty of safeguarding the nation’s borders, as stated in a post on X.
In another post, the BSF shared that schoolgirls from Dogra Public School and women from the Mahila Mandal in the RS Pura sector near the International Border tied rakhis to BSF soldiers, honoring their bravery with pride and gratitude.
CRPF personnel opened their camp gates at various locations to welcome girl students and women on the occasion, officials said. “We have come to tie rakhis to the CRPF personnel so they do not miss their sisters,” said Sonali Sharma after visiting troops in Poonch district.
Shiv Kumar Sharma, Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Jammu-Kathua-Samba range, extended his greetings on Raksha Bandhan and reaffirmed the police’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all women, regardless of caste, color, creed, or religion. He urged women to report any crimes promptly for swift action.
