Mumbai: Actor Kiara Advani penned a heartfelt tribute in memory of legendary actress Kamini Kaushal, who passed away on Thursday night at the age of 98.
After learning of her demise, Kiara — who worked with Kaushal in Kabir Singh — took to Instagram to share how deeply the iconic actress inspired generations with her craft.
“It was an honour to work with you. Your grace, humility, and talent inspired generations and left an unforgettable mark on Indian cinema. Rest in peace, Kamini Kaushal ji,” she wrote.
Earlier on Friday evening, Shahid Kapoor also paid tribute to the veteran star. “Rest in light ma’am,” he posted on his Instagram story, along with a still of Kamini Kaushal from Kabir Singh.
Kamini Kaushal was among the leading actresses of Indian cinema in the 1940s, ’50s, and ’60s, starring alongside legends such as Ashok Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, Dilip Kumar, Raaj Kumar, and Dharmendra.
She made a remarkable entry into films with her debut Neecha Nagar (1946), which won the Grand Prix du Festival International du Film at the first-ever Cannes Film Festival — still the only Indian film to win the Palme d’Or. Directed by Chetan Anand, the film also starred Uma Anand and Rafiq Anwar.
Over a career spanning more than seven decades, Kaushal appeared in over 70 films and also made her mark on television, most notably with the Doordarshan show Chand Sitare.
She was last seen in the 2022 release Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan.
