Telangana road tragedy: 19 killed, several injured as tipper collides with RTC bus near Chevella

Hyderabad: At least 19 people, including 10 women, were killed and four others injured after a tipper lorry carrying gravel collided head-on with a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) bus in Ranga Reddy district on Monday morning, police said.

The tragic accident occurred near Chevella when the tipper rammed into the bus traveling from Tandur to Hyderabad, causing the gravel to spill onto the vehicle and trapping several passengers inside.

The bus driver was among those killed in the crash. Police said the exact number of passengers on board could not be immediately confirmed, as the injured were in shock and unable to provide details.

Rescue teams used earthmovers to clear the debris and pull out passengers from the mangled bus. Relief operations were underway at the scene.

Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao and DGP Shivadhar Reddy to oversee rescue efforts on a war footing. The CM also instructed ministers to visit the accident site and ensure that the injured were shifted to Hyderabad for advanced medical care, an official statement said.
