Srinagar: A total of 50 MLAs have cast their votes so far in the ongoing Rajya Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to officials, by 10:30 AM, 50 legislators had voted — including 20 from the BJP, 28 from the National Conference (NC), and one each from the PDP and Congress.
The polling, which began at 9:00 AM, is taking place at the Legislative Assembly complex, where three polling booths have been set up for the exercise. Voting will continue until 4:00 PM, followed by counting at 5:00 PM.
While the NC is expected to comfortably secure three of the four seats, the contest for the fourth seat remains on a knife’s edge, with both the NC and BJP having 28 votes each.
Officials said the BJP’s chances of clinching the seat appear slim unless cross-voting occurs from MLAs of other parties or independents.
