Jammu: On the third day of the Military Civil Fusion Capsule (MCFC), being organised by the Tiger Division in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu under the leadership of Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, a significant session was held on 17th October 2025 on the theme “Enhancing Defence Capability through Integration with Academia and the Private Sector.”

The MCFC, which commenced on 15th October 2025 at the Tiger Division, Jammu, will continue till 29th October 2025. The capsule highlights the critical importance of synergy among the Armed Forces, Civil Administration, Academia, and Security Agencies in promoting regional stability and national progress. It seeks to deepen institutional collaboration beyond strategic levels to include grassroots governance — a key factor in addressing both traditional security challenges and emerging threats in cyber and social domains.

The event witnessed active participation from senior army officials, civil administrators, and academic experts from IIM Jammu and IIT Jammu, who explored innovative ways to strengthen India’s defence ecosystem through technological collaboration, research, and strategic partnerships.

The session began with insightful deliberations led by officers of the Tiger Division, focusing on harnessing academic and private sector expertise to boost operational efficiency and foster technological innovation in the Armed Forces. Participants also recalled Jammu’s long-standing record of civil-military cooperation, citing Operations SINDOOR and RAHAT (Floods) as successful examples of collective resilience and regional development.

Prof. Nitin Upadhyay, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu, underlined the crucial role of academia in nation-building and fostering institutional synergy to realise the vision of Viksit Bharat. Dr. Karan Nathwani and Dr. Samaresh Bera from IIT Jammu delivered thought-provoking talks on “Technology Absorption as a Force Multiplier,” highlighting the applications of AI, drones, and cyber technologies in modern warfare.

A key highlight of the event was the engaging address by Prof. Brig. (Retd.) Neeraj Soni, Co-Chairperson, IIM Jammu, on “Designing Strategic Human Resource Management Practices for the Indian Army to be Future Ready.” He spoke about the need to embrace digital transformation, team synergy, and human-centric leadership to prepare for future challenges.

The session concluded on a patriotic note with a heartfelt poetry recital on Operation Sindoor by Abhishek Dubey, a student of IIM Jammu, which received wide appreciation from the audience.

The event reaffirmed IIM Jammu’s commitment to advancing defence-academia-industry collaboration, innovation, and the Whole-of-Nation approach to national development. The ongoing MCFC aligns with the overarching vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
