Rajouri: As part of its ongoing efforts to raise awareness on social and national issues, the Indian Army organised a lecture on World Food Day at Tender Feet School, Keri.

The session focused on the importance of food security from both national and global perspectives, emphasizing its vital role in ensuring national stability, economic strength, and sustainable development. It began with an overview of the significance of World Food Day and the global mission to eradicate hunger and build sustainable food systems.

Army personnel shared valuable insights into the Indian Army’s contribution to food security through logistics support, disaster relief operations, and assistance to communities in remote and border areas. Participants were made aware of the importance of self-reliance in food production and how food shortages can lead to social unrest and instability.

Students were encouraged to avoid food wastage and adopt sustainable practices—such as supporting local farmers, reducing overconsumption, and embracing environmentally friendly habits. The lecture also highlighted the Army’s strict dietary standards and the role of balanced nutrition in maintaining both physical fitness and mental well-being.

The event concluded with a pledge ceremony, during which 302 students and 15 teachers vowed to act as responsible citizens committed to minimizing food wastage, conserving resources, and promoting sustainable food practices for a secure and better future.
