10 Minors Rescued from Child Labour, Reunited with Families in Ramban
RAMBAN: The District Task Force, acting on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, on Tuesday carried out an extensive enforcement drive in Ramban Town and nearby areas to rescue children engaged in child labour and begging. The operation was jointly supervised by the District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) and Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC).
During surprise inspections at various commercial establishments, the team identified and rescued ten minors involved in exploitative labour practices. The rescued children were produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), where their guardians were counseled and cautioned against violating child protection laws. All rescued minors were subsequently reunited with their families under close monitoring to ensure their safety and continued welfare.
Officials emphasized that strict legal action will be initiated against those employing minors, including license cancellation and criminal prosecution. Severe penalties will also be imposed on individuals engaged in child trafficking or forced begging. The public has been urged to report any such incidents to the Child Helpline (1098) or the District Child Protection Unit.
The ALC further sensitized business owners and workers about child labour laws and workplace safety, reaffirming the administration’s resolve to eliminate child exploitation from the district.
The task force, led by Assistant Labour Commissioner Amit Kumar and CWC Chairperson Nighat Ghani, included representatives from the District Child Protection Unit, Health Department, Employment Department, District Police, and Child Helpline.
