Jammu: In a major breakthrough, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Jammu recovered around 500 grams of heroin and arrested an interstate drug smuggler following a swift and well-coordinated operation based on specific intelligence inputs.
According to official sources, an ANTF team intercepted the suspect after sustained surveillance and credible information about his involvement in drug trafficking. The accused has been identified as Mohd. Parvez, son of Mohd. Shaheed, a resident of Jaffarabad, North-East Delhi. During the search, the team seized approximately 500 grams of heroin from his possession.
A case under FIR No. 03/2025, registered under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act, has been lodged at Police Station ANTF Jammu. Further investigation is underway to trace the backward and forward linkages of the interstate narcotics network.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused is part of a wider syndicate engaged in transporting narcotics from outside the Union Territory to local peddlers across Jammu and Kashmir. ANTF teams are now working to identify other members of the network and determine the source and intended destinations of the seized contraband.
Reaffirming its commitment to curb the drug menace, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, J&K, stated that efforts will continue to dismantle such interstate smuggling networks. The public has been urged to share any information related to drug trafficking and assist the police in making Jammu and Kashmir drug-free.
