New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday chaired a high-level security review meeting following the car explosion near the Red Fort and directed security agencies to “hunt down each and every culprit” involved, asserting that those responsible “will face the full wrath of our agencies.”

The meeting, held at Shah’s residence, was attended by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, National Investigation Agency (NIA) Director General Sadanand Vasant Date, and Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golchha. Jammu and Kashmir DGP Nalin Prabhat joined the deliberations virtually.

Shah instructed officials to explore all possible angles as investigators work to determine how the blast occurred and who orchestrated it.

“Chaired review meetings on the Delhi car blast with senior officials. Instructed them to hunt down each and every culprit behind this incident. Everyone involved in this act will face the full wrath of our agencies,” Shah posted on X.

The explosion, which tore through a Hyundai i20 near the Subhash Marg traffic signal by the Red Fort on Monday evening, killed eight people and injured several others.

With initial findings suggesting a possible terror link, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has formally transferred the case to the NIA, which will now lead the investigation under relevant counter-terrorism laws.

According to officials, Shah’s review meeting marked the first stage of the security assessment, after which the MHA decided to hand over the probe to the NIA to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive investigation. The agency will examine the materials used in the blast and probe any potential terror connections.

Security across several states has been tightened following the incident, with the government maintaining that no line of inquiry is being ruled out. All agencies have been directed to conduct an exhaustive investigation and submit detailed reports at the earliest.

Meanwhile, teams from the National Security Guard (NSG) and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) collected forensic samples from the blast site. A joint NIA-FSL team revisited the location on Tuesday morning to gather additional evidence.

Sources said the security review also examined a potential link between the Delhi blast and the recent seizure of a large cache of explosives in Faridabad.

The NIA is expected to formally register an FIR soon and take charge of all materials collected so far by the Delhi Police, as per established procedure.
