PATNA: The opposition INDIA bloc on Thursday named RJD leader and former deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav as its chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections.
Announcing the decision at a joint press conference attended by all alliance partners, senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot said the move had the full support of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and party leader Rahul Gandhi.
Gehlot further revealed that Vikassheel Insan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahni would serve as one of the two deputy chief ministers if the alliance comes to power, with the second post reserved for a leader from the backward classes.
