DDC Abhishek Sharma listens to public grievances; directs officers for timely redressal

RAJOURI: As part of the Government’s ongoing public outreach and grievance redressal initiative, a Block Diwas programme was organised near Shiv Mandir, Jamola in Block Budhal Old to address public issues and improve service delivery at the grassroots level.

The event was presided over by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, along with DDC Member Budhal Old, Shazia Choudhary.

A large number of people from adjoining panchayats attended the programme and raised various demands, including blacktopping of the Rajouri–Bakori road via Jamola, construction of a bridge at Beda Khetar, boundary wall for Shiv Mandir, upgradation of schools, and augmentation of electricity and water supply. They also highlighted the shortage of doctors in local health institutions and sought rationalization of teaching staff in schools.

After patiently hearing the grievances, the DDC issued on-the-spot directions to concerned departments for prompt action. He instructed the Education Department to rationalize staff in schools, and the Power Development Department to install required transformers within a week. The Jal Shakti Department was directed to expedite ongoing Jal Jeevan Mission works to ensure adequate water supply in the area.

The DDC also stressed the importance of holding awareness camps by different departments in cluster villages to inform the public about government schemes. He directed the PWD authorities to maintain quality standards in all developmental works and encouraged citizens to register their grievances on the JK Samadhan Portal for quick resolution.

Highlighting flagship initiatives such as Mission YUVA and JKCIP (Jammu & Kashmir Competitiveness Improvement Project), the DDC urged people to actively participate and benefit from these programmes. He also appealed to community members to work collectively towards making their panchayats drug-free and TB-free.

DDC Member Shazia Choudhary appreciated the administration’s outreach efforts and requested early redressal of all pending local issues.

On the occasion, officers from Social Welfare, Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary, Health, RDD, PDD, PHE, and banking institutions conducted awareness sessions to educate people about various welfare schemes.

Prominent among those present were ADDC Malikzada Sheraz ul Haq, PO ICDS Harpal Singh, Deputy Director Employment Mohammad Nawaz, ACD Auqil Naveed, DSWO Abdul Raheem, CMO Dr. Manohar Lal Rana, and Executive Engineers of PWD, PMGSY, PDD, and PHE, along with other district and block officers.
