Srinagar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Section Officer (Legal) of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Finance Corporation (JKLFC), Jammu, for allegedly demanding a bribe of ₹80,000 and accepting the first instalment of ₹20,000, the agency said in a statement on Saturday.
According to the CBI, a complaint was filed alleging that the officer demanded the bribe for processing a file related to the settlement of an MSME loan worth ₹51 lakh. After negotiations, the first instalment was fixed at ₹20,000.
Following the complaint, the CBI laid a trap on Friday and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the ₹20,000 bribe through a UPI transaction on a mobile number provided by him.
The agency said the remaining amount was to be paid after a favourable decision on the loan settlement. Further investigation is in progress.
