Jammu: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Devyani Rana on Saturday filed her nomination papers for the Nagrota Assembly by-election in Jammu and Kashmir, scheduled for November 11, 2025.

Rana, accompanied by senior BJP leaders and a large gathering of supporters, submitted her nomination before the returning officer in Jammu.

Speaking to reporters after filing her papers, Devyani said she was honoured to contest from Nagrota and expressed confidence that the people of the constituency would bless her with the same love and support they had shown to her late father, Devender Singh Rana.

“My father’s greatest legacy was his hard work, honesty, and deep respect for everyone. Rana Sahab treated everyone with love and dignity — these are the values I wish to uphold and carry forward,” she said.

Devyani Rana, daughter of the late Devender Singh Rana — the former Nagrota MLA whose demise led to the by-election — entered active politics earlier this year. In January 2025, she was appointed vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM).

Meanwhile, senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma expressed confidence in Devyani Rana’s victory, describing her as the ideal candidate to represent Nagrota and continue her father’s legacy of dedicated public service.
