Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) on Friday announced that the annual examinations for Class 10 will begin on November 3, followed by Class 12 on November 8 and Class 11 on November 19.

Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, the JKBOSE Secretary confirmed that the official date sheets for all three classes have already been issued.
“In Class 10, around 95,000 students will appear for exams, in Class 11 nearly 82,000, and in Class 12 about 70,000 students,” the Secretary said.

He added that the Board has granted a 15 percent relaxation in syllabus this session following requests from various stakeholders.
“The decision was approved by a committee headed by the Chairman to provide relief to students affected by academic disruptions,” he explained.

The Secretary clarified that the schedule primarily applies to the Kashmir Valley and winter zone areas of the Jammu division.

Regarding the distribution of free textbooks, he said that all students up to Class 8 in the Kashmir Valley and winter zone areas of Jammu will receive their books by the end of November, while in the summer zones of Jammu, distribution will be completed by the first week of December.

Addressing concerns about conducting exams in cold conditions, the Secretary assured that adequate logistical measures are in place, including the secure storage of confidential materials in local police stations to ensure smooth conduct of examinations.
“All necessary arrangements have been made so that students do not face any inconvenience,” he added.

Emphasizing the importance of resilience, the Secretary said, “We should not let harsh weather become an excuse. True parenting means allowing children to face challenges—it helps build their confidence and strength.”
