New Delhi: Delhi Police on Friday arrested two suspected ISIS operatives who were allegedly plotting a terror attack in a crowded area of the national capital, officials said.

The accused, both identified as Adnan and residents of Bhopal, were apprehended following a coordinated operation carried out in Delhi’s Sadiq Nagar and Bhopal based on specific intelligence inputs, a senior police officer confirmed.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that the duo was linked to ISIS and was planning a major strike in Delhi. Electronic devices and other incriminating materials have been recovered from their possession,” the officer said.

Police added that the suspects are currently being interrogated to uncover their network and determine the scope of their plans.

“The arrests have successfully foiled a potential terror attack in the capital,” the officer added.
