Srinagar, Dec — National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Friday held a detailed review meeting with the party’s Members of Parliament, directing them to intensify their focus on public-centric issues and to vigorously advocate for the restoration of Jammu & Kashmir’s statehood in the upcoming parliamentary sessions.

During the meeting, Dr. Abdullah expressed concern over the growing developmental gaps, unemployment pressures and administrative challenges faced by people across both regions of the Union Territory. He said the MPs must consistently highlight these concerns on the floor of Parliament and ensure that citizen grievances related to power supply, road connectivity, health facilities, farming distress and urban civic issues are taken up with the relevant ministries.

Dr. Abdullah reiterated that the restoration of full statehood remains a core demand of the National Conference and an essential step toward safeguarding democratic rights and ensuring responsive governance. He stressed that the party’s representation in Parliament carries an added responsibility, given the expectations of the people who have been seeking adequate constitutional and administrative safeguards.

The meeting also assessed the MPs’ ongoing outreach at the constituency level, with Dr. Abdullah urging them to maintain regular interactions with the public, Panchayats, civil society bodies and youth groups to ensure timely redressal of issues and greater accountability from local administration. He called for coordinated efforts among all party functionaries to strengthen organisational presence and amplify people’s voices at national forums.
