Jammu: Train services in the Jammu division are set to move closer to full normalcy, with four more long-distance trains resuming operations in the sixth phase from November, a senior railway official said on Wednesday.
Train No. 14610 (Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Yoganagari Rishikesh) will restart from November 1, followed by 19804 (Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Kota) on November 2, 19028 (Jammu Tawi–Bandra Terminus) on November 3, and 15656 (Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Kamakhya) on November 5.
“These trains are being reinstated after ensuring the safety and stability of the railway tracks,” said Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu division.
He said this marks the sixth phase of restoration, following the resumption of five earlier phases over the past two months.
“Train operations are gradually being normalised to ensure passenger convenience. Travellers are advised to verify schedules on the Northern Railway website or through official helplines,” Singhal added.
Train services were severely disrupted after heavy rainfall on August 26 damaged several tracks and bridges, leading to the suspension or short termination of over 50 trains. Most of these have now been restored, with officials continuing periodic safety reviews before bringing remaining services back on track.
