Jammu: A leopard was found dead in a forest area of Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday, officials said.
The carcass was recovered from a gorge in the Onshu forest area by a team from the Wildlife Protection Department, they added.
Officials said the body has been shifted to a wildlife centre in Udhampur for postmortem to ascertain the cause of death.
“There were no visible injury marks on the animal. It appears the leopard may have died after falling from a slope, though the exact cause will be known after the postmortem,” said Joginder Paul, in-charge of the Wildlife Control Room, Udhampur.
