Man arrested for stealing gold ornaments from temple in Reasi

JAMMU: Police on Sunday arrested a man for allegedly stealing gold ornaments from an idol inside a temple in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The accused, identified as Shakti Kumar Verma of Garhi village in Udhampur, was found in possession of 30 grams of stolen gold ornaments worth around ₹3 lakh, a police spokesperson said.

The theft occurred on October 15 at a temple located in Katra’s main market. Following the incident, police registered a case and launched an investigation that led to Verma’s arrest, the spokesperson added.
