Srinagar: A massive fire erupted late Monday night in the Narparistan area of Fatekadal, Srinagar, gutting several residential structures and triggering a large-scale firefighting operation by the Fire and Emergency Services Department.
Officials said fire tenders from Babdem and the department’s headquarters were immediately dispatched to the scene to contain the blaze. Owing to its intensity, additional reinforcements were rushed from multiple fire stations, including MR Gunj, Habakadal, Safakadal, and Rainawari.
At least six residential houses were damaged in the incident, officials confirmed. Firefighters battled the flames amid narrow lanes and densely packed structures, making the operation extremely challenging.
Evacuation efforts further added to the chaos as families tried to save their belongings. Locals and police personnel also assisted the firefighters in controlling the inferno.
The fire resulted in extensive property damage, leaving dozens of families homeless. Police have taken cognizance of the incident, and teams of officials have been deployed to assess the losses caused by the blaze.
