Imran Nabi Dar Blames ‘Backstabbing’ MLAs for NC’s Rajya Sabha Poll Defeat

Srinagar: National Conference (NC) candidate Imran Nabi Dar, who lost in the recent Rajya Sabha elections, on Sunday accused some MLAs of betraying the party despite publicly vowing to support “secular forces” against the BJP.

Dar alleged that while the NC is aware of the legislators who helped the BJP secure the fourth seat, their names will be revealed at an appropriate time.

“Unfortunately and shamefully, those who had pledged to stand with secular forces in Jammu and Kashmir chose to backstab us and the people’s mandate. They stand exposed today, and their true allegiance is now clear,” Dar said in a post on X.

He added, “A lot is being written about how we lost the seat. We tried our best but failed to identify the Trojan Horse.”

Expressing hope that the BJP’s winning candidate would serve the people of J&K sincerely, Dar said, “I hope that BJP MP Sat Sharma, elected through behind-the-scenes deals, leaves behind his tainted past, communal ideology, and hatred, and genuinely works for the welfare of J&K’s people.”

Dar also extended gratitude to NC president Farooq Abdullah, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and other party leaders for nominating him for the Rajya Sabha seat.

“Congratulations to my colleagues Choudhary Ramzan Sb, Sajjad Kichloo Sb, and Shammi Oberoi ji on being elected as Rajya Sabha members. I am confident they will be the voice of the voiceless from J&K,” he said, thanking NC MLAs and alliance partners who voted in his favour.
