Sakeena Itoo holds mega Public Darbar at Sanyadi DK Marg, lays foundation stones for key road and sports projects worth ₹1184.50 lakh

KULGAM: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Sakeena Itoo, yesterday held a mega Public Darbar at Sanyadi DK Marg, reaffirming the Omar Abdullah-led Government’s commitment to people-centric governance, equitable growth, and grassroots empowerment.

Addressing a large gathering, the Minister said the Government is focused on ensuring inclusive development, efficient governance, and transparency at every level.


“Our goal is to take development to every doorstep so that no citizen feels left out of the progress story,” she said.

Sakeena Itoo highlighted that the present Government, formed by the trust and mandate of the people, remains steadfast in its resolve to empower every section of society—particularly those living in remote and tribal areas. She commended the active participation of locals and officials in governance processes and urged them to work in unison for the district’s prosperity.

The Public Darbar witnessed an overwhelming turnout from residents of Balsiran, Dodkuchan, Kandimarg, Sanyadi, and adjoining areas, including representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions and youth groups. They raised issues related to road connectivity, healthcare, education, electricity, and other civic facilities.

The Minister personally heard the grievances and issued on-the-spot directions to concerned officers for the redressal of genuine issues, assuring that all developmental works would be completed within set timelines and with full accountability.

During the visit, the Minister reviewed the ongoing construction of the Sanyadi–Dodkuchan Bridge, being executed by the R&B Department at an estimated cost of ₹6.23 crore, and instructed officers to ensure its timely completion without compromising quality.

Earlier, Sakeena Itoo laid foundation stones for multiple road and sports infrastructure projects in the DH Pora Constituency worth ₹1184.50 lakh.

The road projects include:

Kounsermarg–Nandimarg Road to Galman – ₹415.49 lakh

Seerpora to Hajampora Road – ₹405.68 lakh

Bangward–Dadran Road to Dadran Gujjarbasti – ₹283.08 lakh

Speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony, the Minister said these projects will enhance connectivity in rural and far-flung areas, promote local trade, and improve access to education, healthcare, and tourism opportunities.

During her visit to Manzgam, the Minister also laid the foundation stone for upgradation of the local playfield at a cost of ₹80.25 lakh, which includes construction of changing rooms, seating tiers, fencing, and other amenities for sportspersons.

Interacting with the youth, Sakeena Itoo reiterated the Government’s vision to promote sports as a means of empowerment, discipline, and social harmony, and assured continued efforts to create better infrastructure and opportunities for young talent in the region.
