Satish Sharma attends closing ceremony of Diwali Cup 2025 Golf Tournament at JTGC Jammu

JAMMU: Minister for Youth Services & Sports, Satish Sharma, today attended the closing ceremony of the Diwali Cup 2025 Golf Tournament held at Jammu Tawi Golf Course (JTGC), Sidhra.

The tournament was organised by JTGC in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Jammu. The event was inaugurated by Director Tourism, Jammu, Vikas Gupta, in the presence of Secretary JTGC, Manav Gupta.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Sharma said that golf tourism in Jammu and Kashmir has immense potential and should be further promoted to attract both national and international players. He emphasized that hosting such tournaments regularly at the Jammu Tawi Golf Course would help place J&K on the global golfing map while providing a platform for local golfers to showcase their talent.

The Minister also distributed trophies and mementoes among winners, runners-up, and category-wise best performers.

Secretary JTGC, Manav Gupta, informed that several prestigious tournaments, including Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) events, were successfully hosted at JTGC in 2022, 2023, and 2024, attracting top golfers from across India and Southeast Asia.

A total of 83 players participated in the day-long tournament, divided into 21 four-balls.

Overall Winner: Sanjay Mahajan

Runner-up: Dr. Anil Slathia / Atharv Rishi

Straight Drive (Hole No. 6): Gurdeep Singh

Longest Drive: Col. Amit Gupta, Rajeev Thakur, and Vedant Handa

Closest to the Pin: Sunita Kapoor, Col. J.B. Singh, and Jaideep Manocha

Senior Citizen (Best Net): Winner – Danesh Chopra; Runner-up – Col. Vijay Mahajan

Outstanding performances in the Fourball category were recorded by Garib Dass, Rakesh Gupta, Ashkoor Wani, Col. Manav Sharma, S.S. Pathania, Col. Amit Gupta, Rohit Bhalla, Pankaj Thakur, Col. J.B. Singh, Sanjay Mahajan, Faizan Choudhary, Akash Bhola, Sunand Kumar, Col. Yashpal Tora, Varun Raina, Firdous Masoodi, Hemant Kumar Sharma, Col. Vijay Mahajan, Danesh Chopra, Swarn Singh, and Danin Khan.

A special Women’s Putting Competition was also held, featuring 13 participants, including Shafiqa Banoo, Karuna Pathania, Simridhi Pathania, Meenakshi, Pratibha Sharma, Farhat-un-Nisa, Arya, Wedhana, Shridha Gupta, Sambhavi Gupta, Tanvi Gupta, Ritu Slathia, and Ekta Sharma.

Winner: Farhat-un-Nisa

Runner-up: Wedhana

2nd Runner-up: Shaheen Wahid

Joint Director Tourism, Jammu, Aijaz Qaiser, along with prominent golfers and officers of JTGC, were also present on the occasion.
