PAMPORE: In a significant move to boost transparency and efficiency in the Public Distribution System, the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) today commissioned Jammu and Kashmir’s first-ever digital weighbridge at the Food Storage Depot (FSD) in Lethpora.
The facility was inaugurated by Minister for FCS&CA, Transport, Information Technology, Youth Services & Sports, Satish Sharma, in the presence of MLA Pampore, Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi. Senior officials from the FCS&CA department, district administration, and local representatives attended the ceremony.

Speaking at the event, Minister Sharma said the installation of the digital weighbridge marks a major milestone in the government’s drive towards technological advancement in essential public services.
“This system will ensure precise weighing, curb pilferage, and promote transparency in the handling and distribution of food grains,” he stated.
The Minister further said that the government aims to introduce digital tools and automated systems across all major food depots to strengthen efficiency, accountability, and service delivery to citizens.
MLA Hasnain Masoodi commended the department’s initiative and praised the Minister’s leadership for fostering modernization and transparency within the FCS&CA sector.
