Commissioner SMC reviews progress of NCAP projects in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: In a sustained effort to strengthen air quality management in the city, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Faz Lul Haseeb, today reviewed the progress of ongoing projects under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP).

The review meeting, held at the SMC Headquarters, assessed the status, progress, and timelines of various initiatives aimed at reducing air pollution and promoting environmental sustainability in Srinagar. Senior officials from different departments and executing agencies briefed the Commissioner on the implementation of key NCAP components, including green space development, mechanical road sweeping, dust suppression, installation of air quality monitoring systems, and public awareness activities.

Emphasizing the need for timely and high-quality execution, the Commissioner directed officers to strictly adhere to project deadlines. He also stressed on enhanced inter-departmental coordination to ensure tangible improvements in Srinagar’s air quality index.

Reaffirming SMC’s commitment to the NCAP objectives, Faz Lul Haseeb said that collective and consistent efforts will help make Srinagar a cleaner, greener, and healthier city.
