Jammu: A comprehensive tri-service multi-domain exercise was recently conducted under the aegis of the Army’s Northern Command Headquarters, setting new benchmarks in operational preparedness and adaptability for next-generation warfare, a defence spokesperson said on Saturday.
Spanning four days, the exercise tested commanders, staff, and troops against futuristic threats across cyber, space, electromagnetic, and cognitive domains. It aimed to refine coordination, sharpen reflexes, and enhance joint operational efficiency, the spokesperson added.
The exercise saw the participation of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), sister services, central government agencies, and private-sector entities—reflecting a whole-of-nation approach to the evolving security environment.
According to the spokesperson, the involvement of indigenous defence industry partners underscored the military’s commitment to jointness, innovation, and Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliance) in defence preparedness.
During the exercise, forward-deployed troops were trained to respond to complex scenarios involving cyber intrusions, electromagnetic jamming, spoofing, and cognitive warfare tactics.
“Modern warfare is no longer confined to physical domains—boundaries are blurring across space, cyber, and information. We must continually innovate and harness niche technologies while maintaining national unity to defend our territorial integrity and deliver decisive responses when required,” said Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, while addressing the troops.
The spokesperson added that the exercise was inspired by discussions held during Samvad at Mathura on October 4, emphasizing that future readiness begins with open minds, innovation, and teamwork.
“With enhanced synergy, strategic foresight, and integrated capabilities, the Northern Command today stands more united and prepared to counter emerging multi-domain threats,” the spokesperson said.
